  • Slow to start speaking/is not speaking
  • Hard to understand
  • Stuttering
  • Lisps
  • Sucks thumb/finger
  • Fluctuating hearing loss/deaf
  • Sits habitually with an open mouth posture; drools
  • Unable to concentrate and/or listen
  • Very shy or withdrawn and reluctant to speak to unfamiliar people
  • Emotional problems affecting interaction with other people
  • Speaks in short sentences; makes grammatical mistakes
  • Spelling, reading or writing difficulties
  • Odd mannerisms, repetitive movements, self-stimulating behaviours
  • Underachieving
  • Head injury, stroke or illness affecting speech, memory, swallowing, problem-solving etc
  • Hyperactive; diagnosed with ADD/ADHD; allergic to food dyes, preservatives etc
  • Unable to follow instructions
  • Displays learning difficulties.
